Create A Genre, Don’t Follow Trends

Kid Rock & Run DMCIn the 1970’s the music trend was Disco. In the 1990’s it was Rap and now we have Dirty South. Listen to me young people, if you can start a new trend you will be a legend. If you follow trends you’ll be forgotten like Disco.

A good example of this is Run DMC and Kid Rock. Run DMC made the world listen to Rap. Kid Rock fused Rock’n'Roll with Rap and became a living legend. If you follow a trend, step in line behind millions of other artists and pray your discovered and never forgotten. Remember the boy band Hanson? Do you remember 98 degrees? Barely right? There was nothing special about either of them.

People are evolving. They’re developing better tastes. As people gain access to more information via the Internet they acquire different tastes. They also desire wider varieties of entertainment. Right now the music industry is experiencing a shortage of genres.

  1. So true! I’ve been getting suggestions to SAMPLE all the time. That’s not what I do. Everybody has that down to a science already. I make music/beats according to what I’m feeling at the time. When people ask, “what kind of music/beats do u make?” I say, mine. There is no genre for what I am. I think it depends on the listener.

So yeah, a follower I am not. I say to the followers, don’t be surprised if u look up and the one you’re following is ME!
